ROOTS OF DISCRIMINATION
We have heard stories of predator killing men as well as man killing the beast (Who hasn’t seen Jungle Book) but in reality today it’s the man (predator) who’s killing the man (prey).
We all know that wars kill thousands of people. But if we give it a thought, who in the first place initiates a war. It is we the people who are killing the people. Be it of jealousy, desire, discrimination, hatred or any other stupid reason.
Sometimes I think what makes a man hate another human being so much that he takes such a grave step.
Being an Indian I have seen and lived in all kinds of religion, culture and casts.
Getting on to my point, who doesn’t remember the Mumbai riots and of’cos Godhra.
We have read about it, seen it even spoken about it. But how many of you have thought about it.
In west it is considered wrong to comment or behave in a certain way with some one based on their skin color.
But in my homeland we all have one color, if you leave out the fair-n-lovely users.
So we have 'religion' here and now-a-days ‘cast’.
Here I would like to quote an incident that startled me.
It actually opened my eyes to the grave reality about how deep pr should I say how young the roots of discrimination have infected our so called ‘secular’ country.
A young boy in his shorts playing with another boy wearing exactly the same shorts. Having a ball in the stagnated fresh rain water.
They didn’t care about the fact that they were half naked as they looked to like were from the lower strata of the society.
Out of nowhere comes a girl in red frock about 11-12 years old. She pulls one of the boys possibly her brother and starts scolding him. And tells him never to play with that boy again.
I asked to myself…
->Is the other kid selfish (may be the sister wants to protect her brother).
->Or does he have any communicable disease.
->Or is it b’coz the boy has lice in his hair (believe me that can be a reason).
Before I can think of anymore of reasons the girl gave me the answer…
“ISKE SAATH MAT KHEL YEH TO MUSLIM HAI…”
I was stunned. I didn’t know what to say or how to react.
But that gave birth to a few questions…
1. Does the little boy know who’s a Muslim and who’s not?
2. Even if he knows, does he know why he is being asked to be a part of this discrimination?
3. Who ever taught the girl who might have just puberty to discriminate against a 5-6 year old child just b’coz he goes to mosque instead of a temple?
4. And what’s the fault of the other child who is referred as Rahim instead of Ram.
Well the answer to question no-3has to be parents who have taught their girl to discriminate against a 5 year old without ever bothering about her education.
The look on that kid’s face told me that he had a broken heart, a hurt self respect which he might have to bear a number of times as he grows older.
And after 10-15 years of discrimination and humiliation, if he looses his mind one day and does something irrational, would it entirely be his fault. I’d say no.
People in this country have a tendency to blame Non-Hindus (after politicians’ of’cos) for anything that goes wrong.
But are they really responsible for such regrettable incidences.
Why do we forget that before being a Hindu or a Muslim or a Sikh………..
We are Indians and even before that….. We are Human Beings.
We were born humans, why can’t we stay human.
If only we could just be humans, we might be able to save a childhood from the unwanted hatred and may prevent another GODHRA from happening...

Bhagwan – The Almighty
Some people address this unseen power as GOD, some as LORD and some as ALMIGHTY.
We all (yes me too…..sometimes) pray to him or her for various needs.
Time and again we ask him for various things that we ourselves are incapable of getting.
Most of the times we call upon the usually forgotten neglected yet always looked upon as the ray of hope for security.
Security for our loved one’s, friends and sometimes for ourselves.
Time and again we all ask him to protect us from some thing or the other.
Ever thought or even imagined in your wildest dream that the Supreme Power the GOD himself would be in a need of security.
Yes, the unthinkable is true.
And believe it or not, the threat is from God’s own creation, The MAN.
Yes that’s true.
Picture this…
The Siddhivinayak Mandir in Mumbai, which is not less than a national monument, is under threat from terrorists.
The God is being threatened.
The temple which blesses the common as well as the elite is on the list of people who think that God has sent them on this planet to kill people.
And now the want to raze the Lord’s resting place to ground.
So, it seems that the almighty himself requires help from his creations to protect his holy place which makes me think, is the LORD really the most powerful force or has his creations found a chink in his armor.
One can’t help but think that in today’s time which we call the Kalyug….
Is the almighty really the Almighty…???

loss of inheritence
our decision making power, our reacting to any situation or emergency, and most of all financial bent , all carries slight reflection of what our dad has done in past.
it might be very obvious , coz v learn from home, but iam talking about conscience, about moulding the thoughts in same direction as they were always.
not neccesarily its forced upon us , but it comes with the bloodline, or how else could u explain son to show certain qualities like dad when he has been staying in hostel half his life.
its good to have options open but not so many that u actully forget what always wanted,
the point that iam driving at is parenthood.
it is very neccessary for a couple to go under certain tips, guidelines, formulas and tricks before jumping to produce a baby..
and that too not just once but perodicaly, say after 5yrs , how to deal with child, after 15yrs, how to give him his space and when the innocent child turns 22 , parents shud know what exactly do they want from their child.
and also there should be something like like choices , like intrests , which the parents should have and child should also respect them..
iam writing this coz not everybody is same , but atleast one should have prefrences in life.
and for me it came a little late.keeping family tradition o becoming an emminent figure like an enggneer or doctor, or anything for that matter.
but imagine u dont have any tradition, no ties with blood relatives,no past ,all u r is what u think..
strange but true , no iam not going against parenthood,i absolutely abide by wt thy do is in our best intrests.somehow one thing keeps lingering inside me " how can i survive without spoon feeding"
---------*******under construction.

A simple yet dirty 4 letter word---F***
The gas in our intestines comes from several sources: air we swallow, gas seeping into our intestines from our blood, gas produced by chemical reactions in our guts, and gas produced by bacteria living in our guts.
What is fart gas made of?
The composition of fart gas is highly variable. Most of the air we swallow, especially the oxygen component, is absorbed by the body before the gas gets into the intestines. By the time the air reaches the large intestine, most of what is left is nitrogen. Chemical reactions between stomach acid and intestinal fluids may produce carbon dioxide, which is also a component of air and a product of bacterial action. Bacteria also produce hydrogen and methane. But the relative proportions of these gases that emerge from our anal opening depend on several factors: what we ate, how much air we swallowed, what kinds of bacteria we have in our intestines, and how long we hold in the fart. The longer a fart is held in, the larger the proportion of inert nitrogen it contains, because the other gases tend to be absorbed into the bloodstream through the walls of the intestine.
A nervous person who swallows a lot of air and who moves stuff through his digestive system rapidly may have a lot of oxygen in his farts, because his body didn't have time to absorb the oxygen.
The odor of farts comes from small amounts of hydrogen sulfide gas and mercaptans in the mixture. These compounds contain sulfur. Nitrogen-rich compounds such as skatole and indole also add to the stench of farts. The more sulfur-rich your diet, the more sulfides and mercaptans will be produced by the bacteria in your guts, and the more your farts will stink. Foods such as cauliflower, eggs and meat are notorious for producing smelly farts, whereas beans produce large amounts of not particularly stinky farts.
Why do farts make noise?
The sounds are produced by vibrations of the anal opening. Sounds depend on the velocity of expulsion of the gas and the tightness of the sphincter muscles of the anus. Contrary to a popular misconception, fart noise is not generated by the flapping of the butt cheeks.
Why are stinky farts generally warmer and quieter than regular farts?
Most fart gas comes from swallowed air and consists largely of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, the oxygen having been absorbed by the time it reaches the anal opening. These gases are odorless, although they often pick up other (and more odiferous) components on the way through the bowel. They emerge from the anus in fairly large bubbles at body temperature. A person can often achieve a good sound with these voluminous farts, but they are commonly (but not always!) mundane with respect to odor, and don't feel particularly warm. Another major source of fart gas is bacterial action. Bacterial fermentation and digestion processes produce heat as a byproduct as well as various pungent gases. The resulting bubbles of gas tend to be small, hot, and concentrated with stinky bacterial metabolic products. These emerge as the
notorious, warm, SBD (Silent-But-Deadly), often in amounts too small to produce a good sound, but excelling in stench.
How much gas does a normal person pass per day?
On average, a person produces about half a liter of fart gas per day, distributed over an average of about fourteen daily farts.
** The butt is the location of the anus in humans, and by definition, a fart is an anal escape of intestinal gas. We should be grateful that we are not crinoids. The crinoid is a marine creature with a U-shaped gut, and its anus is located next to its mouth. **(Yuck!!!!!)
No, a burp emerges from the stomach and has a different chemical composition from a fart. Farts have less atmospheric gas content and more bacterial gas content than burps.
For the Adventure Lovers...........
Is it really possible to ignite farts?
The answer to that is yes! However, you should be aware that people get injured igniting flatus. Not only can the flame back up into your colon, but your clothing or other surroundings may catch on fire. A survey done by Fartcloud (the site, alas! is no more) indicates that about a quarter of the people who ignited their farts got burned doing it. Ignition of flatus is a hazardous practice. However, if you want to try it, and you don't have a friend to light your fart for you, you might find it easier to accomplish the job using the Fartlighter.
There have also been cases in which intestinal gases with a higher than normal oxygen content have exploded during surgery when electric cautery was used by the surgeon.
Here i present to you a fart lighter video.(Accident)
But Guys do not try this. Its very dangerous.

Thats it guys.... HAVE A FARTING DAY.............

A poem
When no one will look at you,
Come to me I will be there with open arm.
When you will fear to stand in front of the mirror
Come to me,I will be there for you.
When you stop counting your grey hairs
Come to me,My arms will be there to hold you.
When you suddenly got up at midnight
open the window and look at the moon,You will find me there.
When someone breaks your heart
Come to me,I will be there to soothe you.
When your emotional urge overcomes the sexual one,
I will be thereI will be there for you forever....

How to expect a student to study on B'day...!!!!!????????????
THE DAY I CUT MY HAIR...
IT WAS THE 112 DAY OF THE YEAR 2007. IT WAS A SUNDAY, A PRETTY LOUSY ONE I MUST SAY...
BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS SUNDAY.
IF I EVER WRITE MY AUTOBIGRAPHY THIS DAY WILL HAVE A SPECIAL MENTION.
WHY BECAUSE THIS WAS THE DAY I HAD TO PART WITH SOMETHING THAT WAS VERY DEAR TO ME.
NO IT WASN'T MONEY(PPL WHO KNOW ME ARE AWARE OF MY LOVE FOR MONEY).
IT WASN'T A GIRL WHO LEFT ME('COZ FOR DAT TO HAPPEN U FIRST NEED TO HAVE A GIRL)
IT WAS SOMETHING EVEN MORE PRECIOUS. SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TREASURED, NURTURED, NOURISHED.
I FOUGHT THE WORLD FOR TWO YEARS SO THAT I COULD KEEP IT WITH ME.
THAT WAS THE DAY I LOST MY HAIR.
YES THEY WERE GONE. GONE AFTER BEING THERE FOR TWO YEARS, TWO LONG BUT LOVELY YEARS.
I WAS THE FIRST MAN IN THE FAMILY TO HAVE SUCH LONG HAIRS. ALL THROUGHT MY LAST 2 YEARS OF COLLEGE I WAS THE STYLE SYMBOL NOT A BIG ONE, BUT I WAS ONE.
PEOPLE LOOKED AT ME IN AMAZMENT, THEY FOUND IT UNACCEPTABLE, THEY SAID I LOOKED MATURE, THEY SAID I LOOK LIKE A BEAST FROM HELL(OOH!) AND SHOULD GET RID OF'EM, SOME EVEN SAID I LOOKED SEXY.
BUT IF U ASK ME.....
I LOOKED AT MYSELF AND SAW AN INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS PASSIONATE,
A PERSON WHO WOULD TAKE THE STORM HEAD ON BUT WOULD NOT BOW DOWN.
I SAW ME. I SAW MYSELF. (NO I DIDN;T SAW IRENE). MY LONG HAIR MADE ME FEEL COMPLETE
.
I WAS IN LOVE, IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR.
THERE IS A SAYING WHICH GOES LIKE
" A MAN DOESN;T MAKE HAIR, BUT HAIR DOES MAKE A MAN"
AND BELIEVE I WAS THE MAN,WHEREVER I WENT.
I LOVED THE ATTENTION, THE QUESTIONS, THE GLANCES, THE AMAZEMENT. IT GAVE ME A SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT NOT BECAUSE I HAD BLACK SILKY LONG HAIR AND THE OTHER PERSON DIDN;T.
BUT BECAUSE I HAD THEM EVEN AFTER THE WHOLE WORLD OPPOSED ME INCLUDING MY FAMILY, MY 4 BEST FRIENDS WHICH PRETTY MUCH COVERS MY WHOLE WORLD.
SO WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY???
FOR A LONG TIME NOW I HAD BEEN RESISTING CHANGE. WHICH IS ESSENTIAL(FRANKLY I DON;T LIKE IT).AND THAT WAS THE DAY I DECIDED TO CHANGE MY IDENTITY.
I REMEMBER SITTING AT THE BABRBER SHOP WHEN I ASKED HIM(WITH A HEAVY HEART) TO CUT MY HAIR, THERE WERE A FEW EYEBROWS THAT WENT UP.
BUT I WAS CALM AND COMPOSED AND WHEN I SAW MY HAIR FALLING I FELT........................................................... SAD.
"THAT IS THE ONLY EMOTION I CAN REMEMBER".
AND JUST LIKE THAT, THEY WERE GONE. MY LOVE OF OVER TWO YEARS WERE GONE.
I DON;T REGRET IT NO REMORSE BUT WHENEVER I SEE SOMEONE WITH LONG HAIR, I SAY TO MYSELF "MINE WERE LONGER". I SOMETIMES MISS MY PONYTAIL THOUGH.
ANYWAYS, THE BOTTOM LINE IS, THAT I CHERISHED THEM BECAUSE I STRUGGLED FOR THEM AND YOU NEVERKNOW THE CRAZY FREAK I AM I MIGHT DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.
AS SAIF ALI KHAN SAID IN "HUMTUM" .......
"YEH ZINDAGI BAHUT BADI HAI..."

take some time out to smile
enjoi.
Men who don't understand women fall into two groups: Bachelors and Husbands.
Not all man are fools, some stay bachelors.
Until I was thirteen I thought my name was 'Shutup'.
Men are simple things. They can survive a whole weekend with only three things: beer, boxer shorts and batteries for the remote control.
As long as a woman can look ten years younger than her own daughter, she is perfectly satisfied.
It's amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world everyday always just exactly fits the newspaper.
We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like?
The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.
Everyone makes mistakes. The trick is to make mistakes when nobody is looking.
Never argue with a fool. People might not know the difference.
An consultant is someone who takes a subject you understand and makes it sound confusing.
For Sale: Parachute. Only used once, never opened, small stain.
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.
We are born naked, wet, and hungry, and get slapped on our butt ... then things get worse.

ARE WE WORTH LIVING
i have a small story , to depict it.
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $500/- note.
In the room of 200, he asked,"Who would like this 500 note?". Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you. but first let me do this.". He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?". Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well ," he replied, "What if I do this?" . And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air."
My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what ! I did to the money, you stil lwanted it becauseit did not decrease in value. It was still worth $ 500/-.
Many times in ourlives, we are dropped, crumppled , and grounded into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
true , easy to write and hear , but damn difficult to imply.
all i have felt and did was talked it out with freinds.
even if they didn't undrstnd they pretended to be and i was so releived .
try this people , trust me it works ..!!!
I'm responsible for India's humiliation.
I, the average Indian citizen, am responsible for team india's humiliation
not just in cricket, but in many other fields.
That's b'cos I spit on roads (MY OWN MOTHERLAND); I suffocate the river (MY OWN LIFELINE) with plastic; I break the traffic rulesas if i am always in a great hurry (AND YET AM NEVER PUNCTUAL); I give bribes instead of repairing my lacunae, I try to cover them with lame excuses; I don't take the trouble of actively participating in sport, hobby or social work; I am always a passive spectator seeking easy entertainment; I value caste system more than charcter, superstition more than reason and foriegn aid more than self-help.
And i transfer the entire responsibility of my self-esteem and national pride onto a group of 11 strangers! TEAM INDIA is not an isolated island cut-off from my context. And so, any corrective action of restoring Team India's dignity has to begin with myself, the average INDIAN CITIZEN.

SAND AND STONE
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE."
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After the friend recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE."
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.
But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND, AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE
The ECHO!! Called Life
"A son and his father were walking on the mountains.Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"He receives the answer: "Coward!
"He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?
"The father smiles and says:
"My son, pay attention."Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"The voice answers: "You are a champion!
"The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.
It gives you back everything you say or do.Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.
If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;
Life will give you back everything you have given to it." YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!"

Don't ever Quit
One day I decided to quit...
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality...
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God."God",
I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?
""Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on thebamboo. He said.
"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo see.I would not quit." He said.
"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...
But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."He said to me.
"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots""I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.""Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.""Your time will come", God said to me.
"You will rise high""How high should I rise" I asked."How high will the bamboo rise" He asked in return."As high as it can" I questioned."Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and bring back this story.I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never Never Never Never Give up!!!!!!!

I believe in God
THIS ONE IS FABULOUS!!!
It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA.
He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to "explain God". I wonder if any of us could have done as well?
EXPLANATION OF GOD:
"One of God's main jobs is making people.
He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers."
"God's second most important job is listening to prayers.
An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off."
"God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have."
"Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church."
"Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K."
"His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important."
"You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time." "You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!
Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway."
"If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids."
"But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.
And...that's why I believe in God."
Do you....
Comments would be appreciated.
Thank you...
The International Women's Day
International Women's Day (8 March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world.
This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all continents, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can look back to a tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.
International Women's Day is the story of ordinary women as makers of history; it is rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men. In ancient Greece, Lysistrata initiated a sexual strike against men in order to end war; during the French Revolution, Parisian women calling for "liberty, equality, fraternity" marched on Versailles to demand women's suffrage.
The idea of an International Women's Day first arose at the turn of the century, which in the industrialized world was a period of expansion and turbulence, booming population growth and radical ideologies. Following is a brief chronology of the most important events:
1909
In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman's Day was observed across the United States on 28 February. Women continued to celebrate it on the last Sunday of that month through 1913.
1910
The Socialist International, meeting in Copenhagen, established a Women's Day, international in character, to honour the movement for women's rights and to assist in achieving universal suffrage for women. The proposal was greeted with unanimous approval by the conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, which included the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament. No fixed date was selected for the observance.
1911
As a result of the decision taken at Copenhagen the previous year, International Women's Day was marked for the first time (19 March) in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, where more than one million women and men attended rallies. In addition to the right to vote and to hold public office, they demanded the right to work, to vocational training and to an end to discrimination on the job.
Less than a week later, on 25 March, the tragic Triangle Fire in New York City took the lives of more than 140 working girls, most of them Italian and Jewish immigrants. This event had a significant impact on labour legislation in the United States, and the working conditions leading up to the disaster were invoked during subsequent observances of International Women's Day.
1913-1914
As part of the peace movement brewing on the eve of World War I, Russian women observed their first International Women's Day on the last Sunday in February 1913. Elsewhere in Europe, on or around 8 March of the following year, women held rallies either to protest the war or to express solidarity with their sisters.
1917
With 2 million Russian soldiers dead in the war, Russian women again chose the last Sunday in February to strike for "bread and peace". Political leaders opposed the timing of the strike, but the women went on anyway. The rest is history: Four days later the Czar was forced to abdicate and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. That historic Sunday fell on 23 February on the Julian calendar then in use in Russia, but on 8 March on the Gregorian calendar in use elsewhere.
Since those early years, International Women's Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international women's movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women's conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point for coordinated efforts to demand women's rights and participation in the political and economic process. Increasingly, International Women's Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of women's rights.
The Role of the United Nations
Few causes promoted by the United Nations have generated more intense and widespread support than the campaign to promote and protect the equal rights of women. The Charter of the United Nations, signed in San Francisco in 1945, was the first international agreement to proclaim gender equality as a fundamental human right. Since then, the Organization has helped create a historic legacy of internationally agreed strategies, standards, programmes and goals to advance the status of women worldwide.
Over the years, United Nations action for the advancement of women has taken four clear directions: promotion of legal measures; mobilization of public opinion and international action; training and research, including the compilation of gender desegregated statistics; and direct assistance to disadvantaged groups.
Today a central organizing principle of the work of the United Nations is that no enduring solution to society's most threatening social, economic and political problems can be found without the full participation, and the full empowerment, of the world's women.

This is such important knowledge that I have to share it with you! Hey, it's good for a laugh.... Proof That The World Is Nuts

There are men in Guam whose full-time job is to travel the countryside And deflower young virgins, who pay Them for the privilege of having sex For the first time Reason: under Guam law, it is expressly forbidden for virgins to marry. (Let's just think for a minute; is there Any job anywhere else in the world that even comes close to this?) *~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*
In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous husband, but may only do so with her bare hands. The husband's illicit lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any manner desired. (Ah! Justice!) *~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*
Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England but only in tropical fish stores.
(But of course!) *~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*
In Cali, Colombia, a woman may only have sex with her husband, and the first time this happens, her mother must be in the room to witness the act.
(Makes one shudder at the thought.) *~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, it is illegal for a man to have sex with a woman and her daughter at the same time.
(I presume this was a big enough problem that they had to pass this law?) *~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*
In Maryland, it is illegal to sell condoms from vending machines with one exception: Prophylactics may be dispensed from a vending machine only "in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises."
(Is this a great country or what? Well, not as great as Guam !)*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*

A not so desperate housewife tells me, “I want to change. I don’t like being changed”.
The thirty something mother of three wants to break free from the domestic rut.
Yet, she doesn’t want to take up a soft teaching job that her husband recommends.
She wants to grow and export orchids.
“I want to go out there and make a difference, but I am afraid of the unknown,” she says with a heavy breath. Honestly, I tell her, “How can you be afraid of unknown when you do not know what that is? You can only be afraid of something you know, isn’t it?” Then looking at her puzzled eyes and a mop of hair hanging on her cheek like a delicate creeper, I say, “what you are afraid of is giving up the security of the known.” We are scared to give the control of what we have. We cling like leeches to our past experiences. We are really afraid of getting unstuck from our past.
So how does one change? She asks. Not by going back to the past but by designing the future, I tell her. You can design the future only when you stop repeating the past. Look here, I insist, your brain has a million neurons that can combine in trillions of neural circuits. Your attachment to the past is locked in only 5 percent of your entire neural network. Just use the rest 95 percent of your brain to dream up a future full of orchids. Dream of blooming flowers and smiling customers. You will then design a dream future. She smiles nervously. I didn’t know what that smile means. But I know for sure, I have set her thinking about her future

Girl vs Boys
Do you know the relationship between two eyes..? they blink together, they move together, they cry together, they see things together and they sleep together BUT THEY NEVER SEE EACH OTHER.. that's what's friendship But when a beautiful girl comes in front, one eye goes blink and the other remains open........ ......... ......... ......... ..... Moral of the story : Girls can break even the best of friendships. MEN ARE BETTER FRIENDS! Women: A wife was not at home for a whole night. So, the very next morning, she tells her husband that she stayed at her girlfriend's apartment over night. The husband calls 10 of her best girlfriend's and none of them confirm that. Men: A husband was not at home for a whole night. So he tells his wife the very next morning, that he stayed at his friend's apartment over night. So the wife calls 10 of his best friends: 5 of them confirm that he stayed at their apartments that night, and the other 5 are claiming that he still is there with them! Conclusion of the story: Men are better friends

A simple thing called FRIENDSHIP
They say Friendship is the most valuable gift anyone can have.
When a child is born, he's born with no. of relations like uncle, aunt, brother, sister etc.
These are some relations that are associated with the child from his birth.
But Friendship is one relation which a person makes in his life time.
You make 1000's of friends during your lifetime.
Over the period,
You remember 100
of which only 10 remember you.
And of those 10 generous people only 5 stick with you throughout your life.
They say " Two is Company, Three is Crowd"
Personally i don't believe that.
Over the past 20 years i have made 'n' number of friends but over the last 4 years
i have made 4 friends(one for every year) that i know without doubt will stand by
me for 'n' number of years against 'n' number of adversities.
Our group of 5 was admired by everyone and even envied by those in search of true friends.
Each one of had diffrent likings, came from different backgrounds, even had different eating
habbits but we were never felt crowded.
Each one of us completed the other and also critisized each other but even then we
were one.
One Solid Company whose foundations are so strong that even a distance of 1595Km
cannot drive us apart(as we decided to go our way in search of livelihood.)
Infact the farther we are the stronger the bond. The connection that is much stronger
than the connection of Airtel. The wireless connection that connects our hearts.
I meet many people who say i don't have many friends.
I tell them you don't need many friends, all you need is someone who understands u and
takes you for what you are.
No point making hundreds of friend, rather make a friend who will stand with you
for hundred years.
How lucky i am..........
I have 4 such friends.
You are in my heart and mind 24/7.
Your Friend

The Complicated Indian Marriages
Jo Khaye wo Pachtaye Jo na Khaye Woh bhi Pachtaye.
But no body told them, that to eat that Ladoo they will have to climb The Everest.
The Everest of Indian traditions.
Don't get me wrong, i love my country and its cultures and beliefs but sometimes i think gets too ridiculous and irritating.
Consider a guest sitting in hall with pooja(prayer) continuously wiping the sweat of his face
as a result of the Fire(agni) being contiuously being oiled by the pandit who b'4 the ceremony
began was seen chewing 'Rajni Gandha'.
He wud keep reciting Mantras while occaisonally peeking in his booklet. It seemed to me that he
was hell bent in completing the entire Mahabharta in one night.
And the worst part was him raising an eyebrow whenever the Chadawa was less than Rs 500
I mean Wat the f***
Is he performing a marriage or robbing the Dulha/Dulhan as if making them sit in front of Fire
with all their heavy wardrobes wasn't enough.
I love the energy and enthusiasm that u see in Indian Weddings but i m not particularly fond of
all the rituals and traditions that are followed some of'em i think forcefully by one side.
Conducting Marriages hav become a business rather than the spirit of Holy Matrimony
and all dat.
And personally i think it SUCKS...

transition from college students to responsible earning man .
" inside these college gate we make life dance on our terms
and outside, life will does the same "
not sure about others but hell im dancing to each and every tune life's playing.
now wn i go down the memory lane , i realise , we frnds were the most irresponsible soul ,earth has ever had . wt did we not do .
i mean mentioning them wud be little devastating.
but we lived life on the edge , and our slogan was 18 till i die
now suddenly out of the college,i shud say , i felt i hv grown ovrnight.
people expect , u need to make decisions which cannot be wrong, how can u waste time by sleeping 8 hrs(which i think is normal for human being)
and lots of unspoken things which u realise wn somebody does it for u .
now wn i call some age old pals , we actually hv to plan our schedule .
and even we guys had a pact ,till the time we stand on our feet , we wont talk.
ok we did talk.
and i bought a pair of woodland to complement my standing on the feat.
more to it .

India is much more than Just Delhi...
Well we all know dat.
But wat we don't know is, rather wat we do not realize is dat there is more to India than just Delhi.
Much much more...
Those who hav seen and remember Dil Se.. know wat i m saying.
Apart from Chaiyan Chaiyan and the Sultry Malaika Arora there was very important issue addressed by the Tribal/revolutionary leader.
We delhites hav long been obsessed with Dilli Aajtak.
Franky i wud like to ask,
Is there any culture in delhi or any Dance form that has its roots in the capital.
All delhi has to boast abt is the Parliament, the Qutub Minar and some other historical monuments, and the corrupt morals of the babus.
Today ppl think twice b'for trusting a person from Delhi.
Yes its true.
Our gr8 capital has a reputation of breeding Miscreants and Back Stabbers.
We r considred to be someone, You Cannot Trust.
It hurts bur its true.
I'll make it clear.
I was at the youth festival in pune and there i saw the cmplt India.
Youngsters from all the states performing their states respective dances show casting their culture with proud.
Ppl from Chandigarh were dancing on Marathi tunes, Asameese were enjoying and admiring the Kuchipuddi.
The nagas with their half clad bodies appealed to everyone while the group from delhi sat and observed.
And....
Did nothing. Just like the Politicians.
I felt so proud to be an indian but not so proud to be a delhite.
B,coz the boys and girls representing Delhi were showing off the traditional dress of......................
The elements sitting in The Parliament.
Apart from that i felt that there is no culture of Delhi. Delhi the city where ppl had spilled there blood like water a no. of times has nothing to show for it in a national event except for the NETAS.
Now is dat an issue to discuss in Parliament???
